5th Class Reflection

  Hello there, I'm back for my 6th post here.

  Today's class started with MUSIC. I mean the topic 'Music as the supporting learning tool'. Ofcause are those classical song, not those that we are listening in our phone right now. Hahaha. Although i myself didn't listen much classical songs, but im still in love with my 'Marriage D'amour'. Definitely will give it a try next time in my class. I really do agree with using this as a 'count down' for student's activity. Hopefully, i could manage to design out a playlist that end exactly at 15minites, 20 and 30 minutes. ( see when i have the mood to do so, maybe next year? Hehehehe) It is really a good idea to use music as a timer for activities, rather than you shouting and yelling for 'Times up, times up, stop writinggggggg..'. It is much better that you could train your students to follow the music. Once the last music is played, students know how many minutes more they have. I believe students will enjoy this kind of class rule too.

Random Video 1. My brother and I :D
  We talked about the objectives and outcomes for lesson plan. And ofcause, from there, we have a forum to be completed by next class. Which is create a PowerPoint slideshow for 1period class of our own discipline. I think i'll be taking Form3 Mathematics, Topic 3: Circle. I think only, still considering.... Opps! I still have to crack my head for the objective and outcomes for the PowerPoint i will be creating.

  During this week class, lecturer talked about 'Slide'. What is a good slide? And what is a bad one? I think that, to create a good slide, you must fit yourself in others shoe. What i meant is, take yourself as the audience, and ask your own self, ' can i see clearly for the information presented?' and 'can i understand?'. This is important. Asking yourself can you see clearly included the aspect of background colour, front size and colour and must not forget, the quality of image. Your image or pictures inserted might look fantastic in your computer but when it is projected on the board, it's much different! Remember that!!!

  This week reflection task is................
"Choose one set of PowerPoint from 'Internet', then 'fix' it!"
Additional of this question was "If you think the PowerPoint do not needed to be fixed, explain why with 4 reasons"

  Well.. As i am so lazy to crack my brain for the 4 reasons. I decided to take a needed to fix PowerPoint. hahaha. Here i start my task.
  As mentioned above, I am lazy. I choose to take a 8 slides PowerPoint which i download and uploaded again in my own SlideShare account. Here is the link : Creating Your Future(Original Version)

** For privacy purpose, you can only view it here by clicking the YELLOW wording ONLY. tq**

  Okay, I assumed you had viewed and look through the slides. Let me introduce the slide first. This slide is created for the purpose of presentation BUT not the type of presentation we used to have here. It's from a friend of mine in USA. They had their presentation by passing around their laptop to show their classmates the slides. The original version was, it has timing, and background music. ( i have no idea why after i uploaded this to slideshare, i do not know how to play the music and the timng thing, can always ask me for the slide, i can show you personally). So, this explains why the front is small, the background of the slide is yellowish, and the quality of image is not perfect.

Random video 2. My dog named Jaya.(taken last year)

  Here come the edited version : Creating Your Future(Edited version)

  I changed the design of the background, to white. So that we can see the information on it clearer. I enlarged and Bold-ed some of the front to make things look clearer and to contrast them. I did cut off some words too, because some of it was too long. I changed some front colour to dark red to emphasis the important keywords. I couldn't change the quality of images because those images were many years back which the quality of the images considered quite GOOD during back time.

  In a conclusion, whenever you are creating or designing a PowerPoint, I understand that it would be awesome if there are many images and being colourful. BUT, simple always is the best, Whatever you wanted to add in or enhance your slides, DO always remember ONE point. "Can the audiences see and understand them?"

  Thats all from me today. Mini reminder to stress myself up, 1 more class till my mock teaching. =O Scary? I do not know. Hahaha. Off to complete my forum now. Hmmm. feel like eating the latest Mcflurry--GreenTea McFlurry. Tried to find HIM yesterday but unfortunately, that MCD branch do not have it. So sad... Lets try again. Hehehe

  Procrastinating my Totto-Chan ;p

  Bye everyone. Do looking forward for all the feedback and comments to upgrade myself. Thank you very much and much appreciated :D

**PS: if the owner of this slide read this post, please do not kill me. hahahha
Good night and Sugar dreams. Photos and videos taken with the apps called "Snapchat" and "Boomerang".

4th Class Reflection

Good day everyone, had you enjoyed your day off today? (for me, Wednesday is a off day because i have no class on each Wednesday) I'm here again to write you guys my 4th class reflection. It's currently 12.45am now. hehe, lets see how many hours i use to update this blog post. Many of my friends say i update my post very fast but it is because i want to stress up my weekdays and enjoy my weekends. Sleep whole day, shopping or blaaaaa. I also know it's late now, but this weekend i won't be free, so lets complete it now.

  FYI, due to too many complaints from my buddies that my blog's background music is too shocking to them, (my first song is a violin version song), i changed my playlist. I removed some of them by adding in some new songs. Some Disney songs i did remain but changed from piano version to the original song(with lyrics). Little information, i LOVE Lion king and Beauty and the Beast. :) but too sad, if you did update yourself about the most recent news about this wonderful Disney movie-Beauty and the Beast, due to some issues, Disney is not allowing it in Malaysia. (Skip this now..............)

  Start our main topic. This class was about lesson plan. As usual, of cause there's a Q&A section. Before sharing my thought, lets answer the given task first. This is the task given for our 4th reflection:

   Lecturer had shown us 3examples of lesson plan, 1 for Mathematics while another 2 for English, All lesson plan has it own format. From what I had learnt in the class, the format or the structure of lesson plan is depends on the school you are teaching. Some school has this but not that while other school has that not this. Based on the task which is 'Design my own structure of lesson plan', we could add or minus the structure of the lesson plan. So, this is the lesson plan of mine that i think is suitable for all classes.
(Click on the picture to have a clearer picture of enlarged version)

  Let's Explain:
*star is stated for few of them, means it might be needed or not needed.

Level of Proficiency: for example, beginner? This can help educator in preparing how heavy should the class be, if it is for beginner, maybe educator should start with something that is more toward basic learning or questions and exercises that is easier compared with expert level. If for expert level, educator can prepare the exercises that require more higher order thinking skills or critical thinking,
Background Knowledge: for example, students learnt the basic concept of log. To allow educators know what is being taught for the pass lesson and what student's knew,
Learning Objectives: i think giving minimum 3 objectives is appropriate.
Learning Outcomes: I think giving 3 outcomes is appropriate too but this is subject to changes according to the number of objectives given, all objectives should be achieved and become the outcome of the lesson.
*Values: If the educator can come out with any values about this particular lesson, educator can include it into the lesson plan. if there is none, its okay. For example, students learn how to work together in group presentation.
Teaching Aids: This is necessary even using textbook only also required to state in here. This can also ensure educator do not forget what to bring or prepare for the class such as have to bring newspapers, hangouts, colour pencils or tools needed for the class and more.
Teaching/Learning Approaches: Including at least 1 teaching approach can make the class much more fun and interesting than using the usual way of teaching which is teaching talk students listen. Listing out the teaching and learning approach can also act as a reminder for the educators that they had used these approaches last lesson. Change to something new! Also a clearer view for educators to prepare themselve in these teaching approaches to ensure class can goes on smoothly.
*KBKK: If educator can link to the KBKK, educator can list it out here.
*Resources/References: If educator use things outside the textbooks such as newspaper articles, videos, musics or online games and games. It's references and resources should be stated here. If none, it's okay.

  It's like the usual lesson plan. The activity and duration must stated clearly, so that it will not confuse others. In my opinion, Development should separate it to Stage 1 or 2 or 3 or so on, this is to allow a better control in duration for each activity and section. If all listed under Development only, it might lead to some time management issue such as not enough time to complete the activity.
  For the Teaching and Learning Method, I myself prefer it to be separated into 2 different columns as it will be much easier to understand and much easier to be conducted too.
  Rational and AVA(Audio Visual Aids), I likes it to be separated too, compared with putting them together. This can make things look much neat and tidy.  AVA could be none if there is no teaching/learning aids needed for that particular activity.

  At the end of it, educator can include 'Reflection', this allow educator to improve themselve for the next lesson. Appendix can come after Reflection. Including a copy of the handout, exercises or notes given during the class.

  That's Yue Ling's version of structure of lesson plan. This is also my first time trying to design a lesson plan and i really have zero experience about it. Please do ask me or correct me if i did it wrongly or missed anything that should be in it, in the comment box below. Thank you very much and much appreciated.

Our suppose Formal look class photo, we were trying to copy the version we used to take every year during our secondary school life.

See what we ended up with....?
  Oh yaaa, back to my little thought about the class. i asked a question which is i think everyone might actually will face during their teaching next time. The question was about, what to do if there is a very very slow learner in your class while others are fast learner or at least faster that him? How to help him? How to plan the lesson plan, should i follow him? or the others? After a nice discussion among all, i think i get the answer. i still remember lecturer said 1 sentence which still keep in my mind until now. ' prepare him for his PT3/SPM'. i also asked about how to improve that student until he can 'be same like others'? (in the aspect of learning) Lecturer did solve my doubt too which is, the student can't 'be same like others' in a short time but needs time.
***the same like others is not to say same as smart as or as intelligent as, or even learn as fast as. Its just about.. erm... example: that student can finish his essay on time like others did :)

  It's time for bed now. Thank you very much to all for helping me to solve this doubt. Love you guys and good night. (2am now)

  Enjoy the music and do give me feedback. hahaha. Good day ahead everyone!

3rd Class Reflection

  Hello there! Im here again, still Wednesday right? i think so. haha. This week's class postponed from Tues to Wed due to some reason. After dropping mum to her office, Aiyak! received msg from lecturer about will be late to class, should have sleep for another 30minutes. Hahahahah. JkJk.

   Sent this photo in group to lecturer captioned 'we are still waiting patiently, hahahaha'. My friend scolded me for putting this caption, he say it sounds so sarcastic and rude. I wanted to take the opportunity to say sorry to everyone included friends and lecturer, i didn't meant to be such no manners. I'm sorry, I'm just being over playful.. I'm sorry everyone, i really didn't meant to sound sarcastic and rude to you all T-T. Thank you Bobo friend for 'scolding' me. I'm real sorry. 😖😖😖

  Let's back to our topic of the day. We discussed the article about ' Navigating the bumpy road to student-centered instruction'. This article talks about what is student-centered, the 8 stages students will experience for adapting student-centered education(i actually like the 5th stage, 'surrender and acceptance', hahahaha) and 11 problems from educators and some included the solution.
  When you see the 'R' word. Means it's another task for our blog post. Here comes our 3rd reflection blog post's task-to-do. (yes, the dark shadow inside is our lecturer)
  Our task, which means 4 issues x 2 methods to solve = 8 of them. :D Good luck have fun. hahahha.
Lets get started.

Issue 1::
Never get through the syllabus.
Solution::
1. Choose appropriate activity that suit the duration of class, and ofcause suitable for the topic that is going to teach. Sometimes, even asking a short question to students will helps too. Not really must be something very complicated or heavy.
2. Control the duration of activities given, not too long maybe around 10 to 15minutes would be more than enough.
3. Focus on critically important or conceptually difficult part in class while give students task which is requesting them to read themselve for the rest of the notes. (To spotcheck them, maybe you could randomly pick a question and ask them about the notes you ask them to rad themselve.)

Issue 2::
Hitchhikes / sleeping member? In group assignment or activities. Some students will tend to be a leech which not suck blood, but suck marks.
Solution::
1. After students hand in the answer/assignment, educator can pick random group member, pick random question from the answer/assignment given and ask. If the student couldn't answer... Hmmmmmm, maybe try a few more questions before judging him/her is a hitchhiker.
2.  Another way to solve this is, if student's examination result is drastically different from the assignment's/class activity's mark, maybe you should recheck his/her work.
3. Educators can set a rule in the class, if students themselve allow hitchhikes among them, and if educator found out, maybe punishment for whole group? Such as redo the whole activity? but first, you must give a chance the students to tell you who is the group's leech. Always give them sometime to explain.

(little entertainment before continue reading this longggggg passage)

Issue 3::
Lost control of the class. When given group activity and discussion among students is allowed. Students will tend to talk, talk and talk. This make the class is not under controlled.
Solution::
1. If students make noise, it is fine because without noise or talking, the discussion cannot be done. BUT, educators can control by warning or remind them in a gentle way whenever they 'talk' outside the topic.
2. Allow them to talk for solid 2 or 3minutes. Sometimes, after a 'great' chat of few minutes, student's attention could be drawn back to the classroom. Or maybe students is a bit too tired? Educator can consider to give a 5minutes break to allow students to freshen up a bit before starting the next activity in class. Small tips, remember before you give them a break, make a deal with them for not being noisy after you have given that few minutes break, students will do as what they had promised to. No harm trying?
3. Educators can give them 'special rewards'. For example, the noisiest group or the naughtiest one will have their presentation first. or maybe, they will have extra many questions or a longer Q&A section from other students and educators. I think students themselve will have a little self-control after knowing these 'special rewards' they are going to face? But ofcause, educators must warn them or introduce them to this 'special rewards' to ensure they will be aware of the 'danger' they are going to face soon. hahahaha

Issue 4::
After assign reading, students don't read and many of them couldn't understand independently.
Solution::
1. As suggested before, educator can ask question about the article or the reading materials assigned. This could check whether students did or did not read.
2. At the beginning, lecturer could try to assign a much easier or shorter reading material to students. Allow them to adapt to the changes first before giving a 100pages reading material. This will really Shock them! A short or lighter reading could allow them to understand the passage independently easily than a long one.
3. Educators can run through once for the reading given. Maybe a small discussion in class or a Q&A section for them to ask you about what they do not understand. Do give them some assistant sometimes. =]

Practise makes perfect?
  Everything is hard and tough in the beginning but when we get used to it, It will be fine. Good Luck to you! Future educator!

  Here comes another class photo, Vimaj is not in now. and sorry JemJem, you look 'handsome' here. Hahahahaha.

  To add on back, i uploaded this video of you eating orange, specially for you only. Hahahaha. XD

  Today, Bobo say, 'I realise the class now is much relax and easier compared with the first class?' I do agree. Maybe it's because we used to it already? Or..? I don't know. Today lecturer show us the schedule for our mock teaching and if I'm not mistaken, after all students done their mock teaching, we have no more class after that? I don't know why, i felt a little sad. Lol. Time really FLIES. So fast left another month + of class only? Wao! What had i been doing for the pass... 2months?  Soon, quarter of 2017 is gone? So fast,  really very very fast. Hmmm.. here i stop my typing. Time to accompany my darling-- Bed. Good night everyone. Sleep tight!

  Read 1/3 of Totto-Chan. She's a cute little girl. :)
  Downloaded a new apps named 'Scratch'. Haven try it, but will play. hahaha
Sweet dreams.

2nd Class Reflection

  Wao Wao Wao! Today I'm not late to class! hehe. Even my friend is not late too. When he enter the class i sang him a song 'There can be miracleeeeeee¬ when you believe...'. Im sorry bobo, hopefully you are not mad at me.
  First thing i did was apologise to my lecturer for not completing my forum. I just simply don't know why, i always cant google things that i wanted to. I still remember, last time my friend ask me to google something, they got it but i cant. Lol! Maybe googling need lucks too? NAH¬ I think its just because i key in the wrong keyword for it, But luckily, our lecturer give us another week for this forum. But also thank you lecturer for discussing the forum in the class and taught us how to google, i even pinned some of the websites she show us.
  This week class is about...
Our topic of the day.
  This picture look simple but actually it means alot. This is what students want us, educators to know. During the class, lecturer gave us a few situation about if students behave so, what will and should we do? I still believe, when student likes you, they will eventually like your subject too. :) Although sometime you might need to use a little of your pocket money but... Well, it really doesn't cost alot you know? Just take it as you bought a new dress ;)
  After knowing what students wants us to know, lecturer do gave us another question for our blog post this week. It is '10 things that students do not want the educators to do'. In my opinion, i try to arrange from the lowest to highest but i failed to do so. I think that all 10 also very important and educators must not do to them.
 1. Do not play favourite and least favourite. Some educator might have their favourite student and they will tend to give much more attention and caring to the same particular student. For example, only allow them to make noise, only allow them to hand in homework later than the others or even agree on what they said. While for least favourite student, the educator will keep on find fault on that student and some even keep on disagreeing on the same particular student's opinion and answer just simply the educator himself or herself do not like the student. Therefore, PLEASE DO NOT PLAY FAVOURITE IN CLASS.
2. Do not make fun of the student no matter its about their personal issue, physical looking, their act and never ever make fun of their friends and especially family. Students really do not want educators to do so. Not even a simple joke. :)
3. Don't get overly involved in their personal or family issues. It is true that we need to care and know them well but sometimes, some student do not want to disclose themselve that much. So when we ask more than a time for the same question and do not get any reply from the student, maybe we should stop asking and respect their privacy.

4. Go crazy with handouts and especially with very short deadline. I think students will really try their very best to skip your class. It is okay with alot of homework but make sure we give them enough time to complete the work.
5. WEEKLY test! Wao, I myself as a student is scare of this too, I don't think student want their educators to do so to them but i know weekly test is actually a good way to improve your students. but, depends situation will be better.
6. Lose temper. Students do not want educators to lose temper on them especially without reason or maybe its just the educators themselve having a bad day. Students are innocent, please control your temper and do not bring your own emotion to class.
Image result for student scream at students cartoon
7. Scream at them. Students do not actually like it. Let me ask you, how do you feel when your teacher started screaming at you in the class and even infront of all your classmates? Will you actually feel good? Even a simple 'KEEP QUIET', is a no no.
8. To many physical involvement, some student do not like their educators touching them too much. they will feel uncomfortable. Indirectly, when they are 'scare' of you, this will affect them not dare to ask you any more questions even when they have doubt about their academic.
9. Physical abuse. This include canning them, slapping them, punch their arm and etc. Even though canning students is a common sight, but students do not wants educators to do so too. I also don't like being canned by my teacher, what about you? Maybe you enjoyed it? hahaha. Just joking.
10. Last but not least! Don't give up on your student. I understand some student seems 'incurable' but never ever give up on them my friends. Do not lost hope on them. Everyone is born for a reason and everyone has their purpose, remember this, they might not excel in their academic but might excel in sometime else. :]
  I thinks thats all from me today! Tired of typing. hahhaha. Laziness overcome me now. =p

Our another class photo of the week. Well, Vimel, you are in now, please don't upset anymore. Hahahaha
Thank You Guys!!!
