We discussed about the 2 articles our lecturer asked us to read. The first one was 'What is Pedagogy'. So lucky i did read the article. haha. i do have questions for this article and i asked. the question i asked was 'What is the differences between Pedagogy and Didactic?'. So glad that lecturer answered and now i have a much clearer image of what it is about. Didactic is a part of pedagogy.
Then, we proceed to the next article which is the 3 theories of School of Thought. This was the article we were asked to read and complete a forum about it---> write 4 characteristic about it. (Skip this, its a disaster, haha Just joking :p)
As expected, lecturer asked many questions about this articles, although it sound scary but i actually enjoyed. Haha, Im weird, i know. All these Q&A makes me understand more about this topic and it actually indirectly motivate me to be prepared before entering class.Lets see how long this attitude can last. Opps! hopefully after my lecturer read this, she wont shoot me with questions for the coming classes. hahaha
At the beginning, i was wondering whether can Humanistic School of Thought and Behavioural School of Thought to be preform together? But after all the discussion, i found the answer. the answer is yes. I thought we could only perform one school of thought in our teaching but i was wrong. Yes, 3 school of thought will be performed in our teaching but whether more toward to which school of thought, its depends on the subject we are teaching and the students we facing. If you ask me which school of thought is the best, i couldn't answer you. This is because i think that all 3 of them are equally important, not to say which is the best or the worst. I still remember our lecturer asked one of my friend ' Being too friendly, you do not afraid your students step over you?'. My answer would be nope. My mother once told me before, we must be friendly but also must not forget to be firm, when it is necessary to be fierce, we must not hesitate. So, others will respect you. This does not apply on being an educator only, it apply on everything. Through this class, i know more about how to approach students in teaching. ;)
I think thats all from me today? I apologise if i do offended anyone of you after reading this post or even in the class, I am talkative. Hahaha. Above statement is just my own point of view for this class =] Okay! GTG! 2 more Forum to rush! See you guys soon!!

Bye bye and thank you <3

well said! 1st time i read the article to be honest im not really understand it cause i couldn't see any connection or relation between those three. than after the class now it getting less ambiguous and as you said, there s no such thing as which one is the best or better. all three of them are applicable during teaching and learning progress depending on the situation of class/ students. maybe later we could discuss together how to handle such kind of unexpected situation in class later on~
ReplyDeleteHiiiii
DeleteThank you very much for reading my blog =D
and sure! we could discuss together ^_^
Good reflection and I can see you definitely benefit a lot from this class. How you feel about the class and is there any problems faced during the class?
ReplyDeleteThank you Jen. Yes, i really benefits alot from this class and i hope could always learn something new in the up coming classes.
DeleteAbout how i feel about the class, friendly speaking, i really enjoyed the class although everyone seems like very afraid of the class but i find it fun. One of the reason is because it is real different from other classes i attend. And i have a interesting lecturer too (which everyone saying she's very scary but i actually love her class). So far there is no problems faced during the class because whatever doubt i have, my classmates and lecturer will help me with it. So far so good?
Or maybe when i face problems with the class, I'll talk to you?
thank you for asking Jen :D
Glad to know that you enjoy the class. I think most of us love pedagogy class :)
DeleteYes indeed
DeleteHey Ling, I've never thought that I've have the same situation with you on that day! Your reflection is really good and you really enjoyed on the Q&A section right? But since you understand on "What is Pedagogy", I've have a question that I would to ask actually, what is the meaning of didactics? No worries, you can tell me the answer when we met.
ReplyDeleteI thought we have explained in class?
DeleteHi Mimi,
DeleteDidactics is part of pedagogy. It is things we neeed in teaching. It's the theory of practical teaching (got 5) which the practical rules still exist until now.
^-^
tq Mimi
Yes... But I still confusing about it Dr. :)
DeleteAny thoughts on Maslow?
ReplyDeleteGood day!
DeleteWhen it talks about Maslow, my first thought would be link to Humanistic School of thought. just like what is being told in the class, 'The school and classroom environment must help youth satisfy such essential human needs' which includes what is stated in Maslow. Fail to meet these needs will brings negative impact on learning. Students needs is very important. therefore, school must pay attention in fulfilling the basic needs of students. To me, i think that it is indeed important.
thank you :D
YO~ that was a great reflection and can I ask how do u stand firm from students stepping over you?
ReplyDeleteThank you for asking this question.
DeleteHow do i stand firm while being friendly at the same time?
Well, i give an example. You can joke around with your students and ofcause sometimes your students can make joke of you too (depending whether you mind or not). But, making jokes has its border line too. Do not exceed your own border line. Such as, to me, students can make joke, but all jokes must be a friendly one without hurting anyone's feeling especially hurting other students. Indirectly, your students will likes you because of your friendliness of willing to play around with them but will still respect you. Maybe my explanation is abit confusing, you can always ask me personally for further explanation. thank you Jeremy
thanks for your reply~ understood!
